hertz-rental-zhz-corvette-580If your current car is running on its last legs, but you’re nursing it and nursing it and keeping your fingers crossed each time you drive it, it’s time to end the misery and get yourself a new car. You think you can’t afford to get a new car? Well, maybe not a brand new car off the lot, or even an old, used car that they’re asking thousands of dollars for, but there’s another option, and that’s to purchase a car at public car auctions.

Cars at an auction will typically go for thousands less than you’ll find at a used car lot. Sure, one reason for this is you’re buying that car as is. What you see is what you get, once you drive it off the lot. But the advantages of buying at public car auctions far outweigh the disadvantages. What are the advantages? Well, obviously, you can find some pretty good deals. Let’s face it – that’s the main reason anyone buys something at an auction. They are looking for a good deal.

Of course this means you’ll have competition – other people bidding for the same car. But there are so many cars out for auction, and so many auctions held on a monthly basis, that you’re bound to be able to acquire something in your price range. It’s possible to bid for these cars online, but frankly, considering that warranty issue, I’d want to walk the lot myself, so that I could see each car and give it the old eyeball.

Another reason to attend public car auctions is that it’s fun. It’s an experience. You’ll meet some knowledgeable car people there, and get an education – or two or three – in the process of checking out your possible next set of wheels.
